What to Include on Your League Flyer
A complete checklist for league operators — every element your registration flyer needs to attract players and convert parents into signups.
Real Flyer Examples
Here are two examples from an active flag football league. Use these as visual reference when designing your own.

These flyers are from Louisiana Flag Football — a league that grew from 175 to 2,000+ athletes.
The Complete Flyer Checklist
Go through every item below before you finalize your flyer. Required items are non-negotiable — missing any one of them will cost you signups.
League Name & Brand
REQUIRED- Your full official league name
- Your league logo (high resolution if possible)
- A short tagline if you have one
Pro Tip: Put your league name at the very top in the largest font. Parents need to know who is running this in under two seconds.
Sport & Format
REQUIRED- Specify "Flag Football" — not just "football"
- Format details (5v5, 7v7, etc.) if relevant
- Boys, girls, or co-ed
Pro Tip: Many parents are specifically looking for flag football (not tackle). Make it obvious.
Season Dates
REQUIRED- Season start date
- Season end date or approximate length
- Registration deadline
- First game date if known
Pro Tip: Registration deadline is one of the most important things on the flyer — it creates urgency. Make it stand out visually.
Location
REQUIRED- Park, field, or facility name
- Street address or cross streets
- City and state
- Google Maps link or QR code (if digital)
Pro Tip: If you play at multiple locations, list the primary one and note "multiple fields" or similar.
Age Divisions
REQUIRED- Each age division you offer (e.g., 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U)
- Grade-based if you use that system
- Note if any divisions have limited spots
Pro Tip: List every division clearly. Parents will scan for their child's age first — if they don't see it, they assume you don't have it.
Cost & Registration Fee
REQUIRED- Registration cost per player
- What is included (jersey, flags, trophy, etc.)
- Early bird pricing if applicable
- Sibling discounts if offered
Pro Tip: Don't hide the price. Parents want to know upfront. If you include jersey and equipment, highlight that — it justifies the cost.
How to Register
REQUIRED- Registration website URL
- QR code linking directly to registration
- Online or in-person — clarify which
Pro Tip: This is the most important action item on the flyer. Make the website URL or QR code impossible to miss. Use a short, clean URL if possible.
Contact Information
REQUIRED- Phone number (call or text)
- Email address
- Social media handles
Pro Tip: Include at least two ways to reach you. Some parents prefer texting; others prefer email.
Social Media & Website
OPTIONAL- Facebook page or group
- Instagram handle
- League website URL
Pro Tip: Even if someone doesn't register today, following your page keeps them in the pipeline for next season.
Sponsor Logos
OPTIONAL- Logos of any official sponsors
- Place at bottom unless sponsor paid for prominent placement
- Keep logos appropriately sized — not competing with your brand
Pro Tip: Having sponsors on your flyer adds credibility and looks professional. Even one sponsor makes the flyer feel more legitimate.
Rules & Equipment Notes
OPTIONAL- Whether equipment is provided or players bring their own
- Any required cleats or clothing policy
- Brief safety note if relevant
Pro Tip: First-time flag football parents often worry about equipment costs. If you provide it, say so clearly.
Design Principles That Convert
A flyer with all the right information still fails if the design is hard to read. Follow these principles.
Hierarchy First
The most important info (league name, sport, dates, cost, how to register) should be visually dominant. Everything else is secondary.
One Clear Call to Action
Every flyer needs one primary action: "Register Now at YourWebsite.com" or a QR code. Don't confuse people with multiple competing CTAs.
Use Action Photos
Real photos of kids playing in your league outperform stock photos every time. If you have game-day photos, use them.
High Contrast Colors
Your text must be readable on any background. White text on dark backgrounds, or dark text on light backgrounds. Avoid low-contrast combos.
Keep It Scannable
Parents glance at flyers — they don't read them. Use bullet points, bold key info, and leave enough whitespace that nothing looks cluttered.
Print and Digital Versions
Design a version for social media (square or portrait) and a separate version for physical printing. They have different size requirements.
Common Flyer Mistakes to Avoid
No registration deadline
Fix: Without a deadline, parents procrastinate. Always include a specific cutoff date, even if you're flexible.
Buried registration link
Fix: Your website or QR code should be the biggest, most visually dominant thing on the flyer after the league name.
Missing age divisions
Fix: If a parent can't find their child's age group in 3 seconds, they assume you don't have it and move on.
No price listed
Fix: Hidden pricing loses trust. Parents will assume it's expensive. Show the price — it's almost always reasonable when you explain what's included.
Too much text
Fix: A flyer is not a brochure. Every sentence should earn its place. If it can be said in 5 words, do not use 15.
Low resolution logos or images
Fix: Blurry graphics look unprofessional. Use PNG files at least 300 DPI for print, and at least 1000px wide for digital.
Quick Reference: Must-Haves
All 8 required items must appear on every flyer before you distribute it.
